Transparency in Coverage

The Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor and the Treasury finalized the Transparency in Coverage Rule that requires health insurers and group health plans to provide a member-facing price comparison tool and post publicly available machine-readable files that include in-network negotiated payment rates and historical out-of-network charges for covered items and services, including prescriptions drugs.

Machine readable files will be available July 1, 2022.

Kaiser Permanente is committed to providing price transparency in our interactions with customers and members. In accordance with the regulation, Kaiser Permanente is actively working to assemble and post the required machine-readable files on kp.org and expects to complete this effort by July 1, 2022. The files will be made public for plan years that begin on or after January 1, 2022 and will be refreshed monthly.
